Richard Lee “Deadeye” Braddy, 79, of Walnut Hill, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 10, 1941, in Walnut Hill, the son of Kenneth Kevlin and Evelo Lucille (Lane) Braddy. On March 26, 1960, at Eternity Baptist Church, he married Marie Simpson, and she survives in Walnut Hill.
He went to Bluford Grade School and graduated from Centralia High School, and was a member of Eternity Baptist Church. Richard was also a member of American Legion Post #446. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to concerts, and was active in youth sports for many years, including the decades he spent keeping the scorebook for basketball games.
In addition to his wife, Marie Braddy of Walnut Hill, he is survived by four sons, David Braddy and wife Roberta, James Braddy and wife Lynda, Dennis Braddy and wife Anita, and Jerry Braddy and wife Alayna; a daughter, Dana Mullens and husband Chad; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Paul Braddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evelo Braddy; a sister, Lois Kaufman; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Braddy.
In accordance with Mr. Braddy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Linzy Laughlin officiating. In accordance with current guidelines, attendance is limited to 50 people at a time, and attendees are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, on Saturday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
