CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia’s City Manager is stepping down from his position effective next week. According to a press release, Lowell Crow tendered his conditional letter of retirement Wednesday afternoon effective March 8th of 2021.
In the letter, Crow stated “that after 34 years of service in the Navy and now seven years of service in City Management, he and his wife believe now is the time to make the change for health and personal reasons. He notes in the letter that it was a tough decision made with deep reflection, but he felt the timing right.Crow adds he has learned a lot over the last seven-plus years in city management and feels he has made an impact not only in the communities he’s served but in the City Management profession. Crow thanked the City of Centralia, its elected officials, staff and members of the public for the support he received as manager.
He was hired last April to replace Dan Ramey in the City Manager’s position coming from the Illinois city of Freeport, where he had served as that city’s first city manager.
