Beulah Irene Atchison, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 am February 12, 2021 at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, Illinois. She was born March 11, 1937 in Clinton County, Illinois to the late Edmond McKinney and Marie (Hill) Cafin. Beulah married James Marshall and he preceded her in death. She later married Johnnie Atchison on December 22, 1989 in Centralia, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly sixteen years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 13, 2005.
Beulah is survived by her children, Darrell Marshall of West Frankfort, Illinois, Jimmie Marshall of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Ronnie Marshall of Centralia, Illinois, Steve Marshall and wife, Bonnie of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Johnnie Tennyson of Chandler, Arizona, Randy Goodman of Vandalia, Illinois, Tommy Marshall of Rushville, Illinois, and Bonnie Anderson and husband, Jeff of Belleville, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Beulah was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Richison and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Collin Marshall and Seth Marshall; and siblings, Lavern Brown, Elmer McKinney, and Darrell Marshall. Beulah was a member of Friendship of Faith. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to country music, and playing puzzle books. Beulah also enjoyed all the times she shared going out to eat with her friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew and admired her.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Henrietta Dunavan officiating. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Beulah’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
