CARMI, IL – A crash involving three semis pulling trailers happened early this morning on I-64 in White County.
According to Illinois State Police, all three semis were going east on I-64 near milepost 123.5 around 2:15 a.m. when the first semi began to fishtail and jackknifed. It overturned blocking both eastbound lanes. The second semi struck the first semi’s trailer. The third semi was unable to stop due to road conditions and traveled off the roadway to the north into the median. The third semi then struck the first semi before coming to final rest in the median.
The drivers of the first and third semis were taken to a local hospital with injuries. No word if the second semi driver was injured. No word if the passenger in the first semi was injured.
The driver of the first semi was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions.
