MARION COUNTY, IL — The jury trial date was confirmed in Marion County Court Wednesday for a Centralia City Councilman charged with criminal reckless driving. Andre Marshall was arrested in 2019 by Centralia police after they received two written complaints from witnesses. Police then secured a surveillance video from the Marion County Housing Authority showing the alleged incident. A February 11 final pretrial hearing was scheduled Monday in the case, with a February 22 jury trial date. If convicted, a Class A misdemeanor is punishable by as much as 364 days in the county jail, up to 2-years probation, or a fine of up to $2,500.

The 2019 incident wasn’t the 43-year-old Marshall’s first brush with the law stemming from his driving. He was arrested in May on an outstanding Monroe County warrant. The warrant was reportedly issued in August of 2018 for his alleged failure to pay on a 2018 citation for driving 62 in a 45 mph zone. The same day Marshall was arrested in Saline County on the Monroe County warrant he was cited in Hamilton County for speeding 15 to 20 mph over the limit and for expired vehicle registration.

He reportedly failed to pay or appear on those two citations and the more than $400 in fines have since been sent to collections.
