Winson D. Allen, 62, of Wood River, passed away at 1:24 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2021, at Integrity Healthcare in Wood River.
He was born November 18, 1958, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Jerry and Dorothy (Burton) Allen.
Winson attended grade school in Lompoc, California, and Goreville, and graduated from Goreville High School in 1976. He enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar.
In addition to his wife, Gail, Winson is survived by one daughter, Brittany Allen of Brentwood, California; parents, Jerry and Dorothy Burton Allen of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Jerome D. Allen and wife Vickie of Ovilla, Texas; uncles Larry Allen of Bethalto, Illinois, and Wilbur Burton and wife Ann of Manteno, Illinois; aunts, Irmadell Loyd of Mt. Vernon and Vickie Burton; nephews, Rickie Evaristo, Victor Hooper, and their family of Texas; and numerous cousins.
Winson is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Cora Allen of Centralia; maternal grandparents, Eld. Everett and Opal Burton of Walnut Hill; seven uncles, Bill Jr., Harel, Carroll, Larry, Donald Burton, Elwood Loyd, and Harold Goin; and five aunts, Phyllis, Marcella, Mary, Geri, and Nadine.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021, at Boyd Cemetery, with Pastor Tina Burton officiating. Attendees are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Burial will immediately follow, at Boyd Cemetery.
