Glendall Eugene “Gene” Davis, 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 8:57 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born August 15, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Pastor Glendall Davis and Martha (English) Tracy. Mr. Davis graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1962, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Valdez Shriners, and enjoyed the outdoors always, especially during the time he lived in Alaska. He was also a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues, and enjoyed his beloved companions, Goldie, Jewel, and Nene.
He is survived by three children, Joe Davis and wife Sherry, Tim Davis and wife Tiffany, and Tammy Davis-Mandell and husband R.D., all of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Channing Mandell and wife Faryal, Ashlea Mandell, Autumn Lane and husband Colton, India Waite and husband Logan, and Lexi Vasquez and husband Eduardo; two great-grandchildren, Haven Grace Lane and Anna Morgan Lane; and one sister, Elaine Derry.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mom, and sister.
The family of Mr. Davis gives special thanks to Jessica Baird, Carol Toland, and SSM Hospice, for care and compassion shown to their family and their Dad.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family service will be held, with burial to follow at Sursa Cemetery.
