MT. VERNON, IL — An Indiana man is in custody after a high-speed pursuit with Jefferson County from the scene of an incident late Monday morning at a fast food restaurant on South 10th Street in Mt. Vernon.

28-year-old Ryan Turner of Hammond, IN reportedly displayed a gun after becoming upset with employees of the Burger King restaurant on South 10th.

He initially fled the scene in a black Pontiac G6 going west on Veterans before heading east on Interstate 64 where a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy began pursuit.

The Fairfield Police Department then issued an alert on Facebook telling residents they were searching for a white male wearing a black shirt on the south side of town who was possibly armed. They advised residents to stay in their homes and lock their doors.
