MT. VERNON, IL — Two Mt. Vernon residents were arrested Thursday in reference to a violent crime investigation at the Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Park.

Detectives and Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant inside lot #52 at the park, which is said to be the same location where 20-year-old Travis Craig was held against his will on October 28^th by 37-year-old Derek Smith and 22-year-old Mark Hayes

Both Smith and Hayes were arrested on Aggravated Battery with the use of a deadly weapon and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint charges. Their bond was set on the warrants at $40,000 each.

The investigation is currently ongoing and no further details can be shared at this time.
