Adrian Leon Smith, 75, of Bluford, died October 29, 2020.

Mr. Smith was born October 5, 1945, in Eldorado and was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Luania Smith; brother, Wayne Smith; sister, Juanita and husband Phillip Skibinski; parents-in-law John and Ellamae Hiltibidal; and brother-in-law William Bain.

He graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1963 and served honorably in United States Air Forceintelligence from 1963-1967. He attended Free Will Baptist Bible College and Kaskaskia College. He enjoyed a 38-year career with the United States Postal Service and retired in 2011 after serving as Postmaster at Wayne City for 24 years. He was a member and deacon at Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church for over 40 years and a member of The Gideons International. He enjoyed astronomy and following space events with his telescope, woodworking, music of all kinds, and spending time with children and grandsons.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Lynn Smith of Bluford; brother, James WallaceSmith and wife Patty; sister-in-law, Yaeko Smith; sister-in-law Anita Bain; sister-in-law Mary Seawell and husband Holt; brother-in-law John Hiltibidal and wife Julie; daughter Heather Chalos and husband Stevie; son Adrian Lee Smith and wife Antonia; daughter Nancy Withrow and husband Ed; grandsons Clint Chalos, Mick Chalos, Drake Withrow, Dillon Withrow and Donovan Withrow; nieces Doris Stewart, Georgianna Sutton and husband Mike, Danya Maas and husband Larry, Carol Bain and husband Chris Gates, Beth Lantz, Christy Seawell, Greta Laguna and husband Chris, Jordan Hallett and husband Josh, Amy Hiltibidal, Audrey Hiltibidal; and nephews Larry Hunt, Terry Hunt and wife Phyllis, Steve Smith, Greg Smith and wife Jodi, Gary Smith, Jon Bain and wife Lynn, Greg Bain and wife Mary; and multiple great nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Services will be held at 1:45 P.M. Sunday, November 1st.at Mt. Olivet Church cemetery, 7940 County Road 850 N, McLeansboro. Visitors are welcome for viewing from 1:15pm-1:45pm and service will begin at 1:45pm. Social distancing will be observed on site and FM radio transmission will be available for those who wish to listen from their vehicle. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Gideons International or the charity of your choice in his honor.
