Howard Wayne Gowler, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:25 pm September 1, 2020 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. He was born September 12, 1926 in Mount Vernon to the late Harry  and Helen (Scott) Gowler. Howard first married Jean (Jones) Gowler. They were married for 56 years until she passed in 2003. He later married Betty (McKitrick) Gowler on September 4, 2004.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:30 pm with Dr. Chris Morgan and Reverend Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. The American Legion Post #141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery. Memorials may be made in Howard’s honor to the Logan Street Baptist Church Building Fund.
