MT. VERNON — A 19-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been charged with felony damage to property following an incident Wednesday in Mt. Vernon.
Ricky Stone was charged with felony criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
On Wednesday officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to the 400 block of North Street for a report of a male subject attempting to break into an occupied home.
The first dispatch reports said the man, later identified as Stone, had busted out the front window of the home.
Police say when the officer arrived on scene, Stone began to run from the home to the west.
The officer followed Stone in her patrol vehicle and then ran after him.
After a short chase, Stone was taken into custody without further incident.
According to police, Stone damaged a vehicle in the driveway of the home with a brick and then approached the home.
