MT. VERNON, IL — Illinois producers are taking advantage of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). The state leads the nation in payments made.
In the non-specialty side there have been over 12,000 applications and $34 million paid. When it comes to specialty crops, $25,000 has gone out in relief to farmers with only around 12 applications. The livestock area has seen well over 100 applications and a large amount of money has gone out too.
Locally, Sandy Frick is the Executive Director at the Jefferson County Farm Service Agency office says there are some specific guidelines for farmers who qualify for relief payments.
