CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia police are investigating two shots fired incidents Wednesday that resulted in property damage.

According to Police Chief Greg Dodson, officers responded Wednesday to the area around Wright and Robnette drives in Centralia on a report of a domestic disturbance in which a female had been battered. Dodson says the alleged victim refused to cooperate with officers or to file a report of the incident.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a second call of gunfire in the 600 block of Rhodes in what appears to Chief Dodson to have been revenge for the first shooting incident. There were no injuries but there was property damage from the numerous gunshots.

Dodson emphasizes that while the two incidents were connected, they were in no way related to recent social unrest across the country or the peaceful protests held in Centralia.
