SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (WITHERS BROADCASTING) — Here are the latest numbers regarding local counties with confirmed positive cases of the novel coronavirus as of Wednesday morning.

Jefferson County is still currently at 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Two of which are residents while the other is a truck driver in his 50’s from Texas.

The Marion County Health Department was notified Wednesday of a Marion County resident who tested positive for COVID-19. The individual, a female in her 50s, is doing well and is at home on isolation. There are now 4 confirmed positive cases in Marion County.

Clinton County is reporting 11 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

The Washington County Health Department has announced a second positive test of the Covid-19 virus to a county resident. The resident is a female healthcare worker in her 50s. She has made a full recovery and is no longer required to be in isolation. The first Washington County person reported having the virus has also made a full recovery and is off isolation and quarantine orders.

Jackson County Health Department was notified in the past 24 hours of five new confirmed cases of COVID-19. All of these people are thought to have acquired the disease locally, through contact with other known or suspected cases. To date, there have been 21 total laboratory confirmed positives of COVID-19 in the County, including one death.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department has been notified of three new positive COVID-19 cases. There have been a total of 8 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson county and 2 laboratory confirmed positive in Franklin county of COVID-19.

Fayette County currently has only 1 confirmed coronavirus case.

Egyptian Health Department was notified on Tuesday of a third case found in a Saline County resident who has tested positive for Coronavirus. The individual, a female in her 40’s, is at home in isolation.

The Southern Seven Health Department reported its first case in Pulaski County on Tuesday. There are currently 2 cases in Massac County.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois has risen dramatically over the past week. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), there are 13,549 cases of confirmed COVID-19 in the state.

The number of cases can be reduced by adhering to public health guidance on social distancing, washing hands frequently, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and staying home when you are ill.
