SALEM, IL — An altercation that started Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Salem restaurant resulted in the arrests of three individuals after a stolen gun and drugs were reportedly discovered.

According to Salem police, the occupants of two vehicles were involved in an altercation around noon Tuesday in the Dairy Mart parking lot on US Highway 50. The vehicles left the parking lot and headed toward McMackin and Marshal where the gun was reportedly displayed by the occupant of one vehicle.

Salem police subsequently stopped that vehicle on Shelby Street where the 17-year-old female driver was reportedly found to be in possession of the gun and methamphetamine. She was arrested for alleged possession of less than 5-grams of meth, armed violence and possession of a stolen firearm.

Two other occupants of the car, 20-year-old Danielle Campbell and 20-year-old Donald Fairchild, both of Salem, were also arrested. Campbell was arrested for alleged aggravated assault, armed violence, possession of 5 to 15 grams of methamphetamine, possession of over 30 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful use of a stolen firearm to commit a felony. Fairchild was arrested for alleged possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. He was given a notice to appear in court.

Following the traffic stop, the Salem K-9 reportedly alerted on the car, leading officers to discover 10 packages of cannabis and three packages of meth that combined, weighed 6-grams. The firearm found in the vehicle was apparently stolen earlier this year from the Texico area.

Police continue to search for the second vehicle reportedly involved in the initial altercation.
