MT. VERNON — Schools across the state are officially closed due to the Coronavirus, but Mt. Vernon City Schools wants to make sure their students still have access to nutritious meals during the closure. The district has set up meal distribution sites that begin today and will be on weekdays from now until at least March 30th.

District 80 will be offering prepackaged lunches and snacks for all district students, both will be distributed at the same time in grab and go form. To ensure sanitation and limit food contact, all food items offered will be individually packaged or sealed. Milk and juice will be in a sealed container. Fresh fruits offered will be bananas or oranges that are required to peel before consumption.
