CENTRALIA — An Illinois Board of Education investigation into the use of time out rooms and physical restraints in schools across the state found no violations by the Kaskaskia Special Education District.
The investigation came as the result of a ProPublica and Chicago Tribune article that found problems with the use of time out rooms at facilities around the state including at Bridges Learning Center in Centralia.
The article led to overnight changes in regulations and to pending legislation laying out additional changes to how students are disciplined in Illinois schools.
The ISBE investigation found no problems with how Bridges hands out discipline and the investigation was reportedly closed.
In its investigation, ISBE reviewed records, and interviews made on-site visits and observations.
