MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon man is in custody after he threatened to stab a man that refused to buy his jacket Sunday.

Dispatchers received the call around 10:20 Sunday night about the incident in the 400 block of S. 24th Street in Mt. Vernon.

MVPD Assistant Chief Robert Brands says 30-year-old Christopher Hardig showed up at the home uninvited looking to sell his jacket to the victim. When the victim refused, Hardig pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the victim.

Hardig left the home and police located him nearby. Officers located the knife on Hardig when they found him, and was taken into custody on home invasion with a dangerous weapon and resisting a peace officer charges.

He was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he remains.
