BENTON, IL — The Franklin County Board Tuesday night approved advertising for bids on demolition of the Benton Evening News building on East Church Street.

Once the building is demolished, the property will be turned into a new parking lot to help with the parking situation in downtown Benton especially when construction begins on the new courthouse on the Benton Square early next year.
