Darrel Wayne Savage, 87, a resident of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.
He was born December 15, 1932 in Springerton, IL, the son of Victor and Martha Opal (Malone) Savage. Darrel married Dorothy Jean Hale on August 24, 1956 and she preceded him in death. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Darrel worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Oliver Methodist Church.
Darrel is survived by one son, Kenneth Savage of McLeansboro, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hopewell Cemetery near McLeansboro with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 20 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. He will be laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors performed by American Legion Post 106 and a U.S. Army Honors Team. Memorial donations may be made to the Hopewell Cemetery and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
