MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has arrested five Centralia residents in connection with an investigation into a recent robbery and homicide.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased or how the person was killed.
The five arrested for felony murder and felony robbery are 53-year-old Cardell Thomas, 30-year-old Krystal Scerba, 28-year-old Blake Shahan, 27-year-old Darleedria Flippen and 26-year-old Montez Duncan. Shahan was also arrested on a charge of possession of controlled substance.

Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon says a forensic autopsy was conducted Friday at the Champaign County Coroner’s Office that confirmed the cause of death was a homicide.
The sheriff’s office has not released a timeline of events that led to the victim’s murder but Cannon says the person was recently discovered deceased in Marion County.
The Central City, Centralia and Wamac police departments, along with the Illinois State Police CSI Unit assisted the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
All five suspects remain in the Marion County Jail with the formal filing of charges and settings of bail to be set.
