MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon Township High School has a new superintendent, and she’s a graduate of MVTHS and former teacher at the school, and a life-long Jefferson County resident.

Melanie Andrews, the assistant Superintendent of Schools for ROE 13, was named the superintendent and the board approved her three-year contract at a special meeting held Wednesday.

Andrews started her education career as an English teacher at MVTHS. She says from those early days, she knew she wanted to one day lead the school and district.

Andrews, who is also the president-elect of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, will assume the role of superintendent on July 1, 2020. She will take over for retiring superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch.
