CENTRALIA — Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson reports the department is starting up a new tradition with the decorating of a Community Christmas Tree.
CPD is inviting area youth, up to age 12, to help the department decorate the CPD Community Christmas tree, located in the front lobby at the police department at 222 South Poplar Street.
Dodson says they would like the kids in the community to create a homemade ornament to be proudly displayed on the Centralia Police Department tree.
He adds that when children bring in their ornament and hang it on the tree, they can register at the dispatch window to be entered into a drawing for a new bicycle.
Two winners, one boy and one girl, will randomly be drawn on December 13th and be invited to join officers at the Annual Shop with a Cop on December 14th to pick out their bike.
Dodson says the tree is already up and is ready for ornaments and the department is very excited to see what the kids create.
