CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia police have released additional details into an alleged weekend armed robbery on South Pine that resulted in the arrest of two out of three juvenile suspects.

According to Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson, one of two brothers believed involved in the armed robbery was taken into custody Monday, questioned and released.

A 15-year-old juvenile male was later arrested in the case, and taken to the Marion County Jail for transport to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

The 16-year-old sibling who remained at large was ultimately arrested Monday night. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await transport to juvenile detention.

Both suspects have been charged with armed robbery and a third juvenile male suspect remains at large.

Dodson says the three suspects were “semi-acquainted” with two alleged victims and the five juveniles were walking together on South Pine when the three decided to rob the other two at gunpoint for their cell phones.

A video posted online by the 16-year-old suspect shows him apparently bragging about the armed robbery and saying he was going to rob one of the victims again.
