WEST FRANKFORT — The City of West Frankfort is taking action against a man who has not allowed an inspection of a building he owns to see if continues to be safe for occupancy.

According to a press released on the City of West Frankfort’s Facebook page, the city has sought an inspection of the building owned by Edward “Captain” Prak located at 710 E. Main Street for several months since a significant fire took place in the building in September 2018. An inspection is required pursuant to city ordinance to determine the safety of the building.

The city says Prak has previously prevented inspection of the building. Pursuant to action taken by the city, Prak was ordered to submit the building for inspection and notice was given to him that an inspection would take place on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. When the inspectors arrived, they were not permitted to enter the building.

A court order has now been entered stating the building shall be inspected on Dec. 2, 2019 at noon. The results from the inspection will be heard at a status hearing on Dec 3, 2019.
