FAYETTE COUNTY — A 50-year-old Vandalia man accused of attempted murder of his wife will go before a Fayette County jury next month after attorneys on both sides confirmed they’re prepared for trial.

Gregory M. Hill was arrested and charged in 2017 with Class X felony attempted murder for allegedly throwing his wife to the floor and causing her a spinal injury with the intent of killing her.

Heather Hill’s primary care physician and medical director at the nursing home where she now lives has testified in court that she is now a quadriplegic and is bed bound.

Dr. John Opilka says Heather Hill does not tolerate being in a wheelchair due to pain and her injuries and having to appear in court would cause her great anxiety and require a nurse to tend to her at all times.
