WAYNE COUNTY — A Wayne City man is dead following a Friday Night crash on Route 242 in southern Wayne County.

According to the Illinois State Police, 57-year-old Troy L. Manahan was driving a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound on Route 242 at County Road 300 North around 9:45 Friday night. He failed to follow a left curve in the roadway, ran off the right side of the road, and traveled through a large, grassy median before striking an embankment and overturning. The vehicle came to rest in a field. Manahan was pronounced dead at the scene.

ISP was assisted by Wayne City Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Rick’s Towing on scene.
