WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Williamson County will allow the sale of recreational marijuana when it becomes legal across Illinois on Jan. 1.

The Williamson County Board Tuesday unanimously approved the sale of recreational marijuana at its meeting. It also passed an ordinance to set the sales tax for cannabis sales at 3.75 percent. That’s according to WSIL-TV.

The Marion City Council Monday night voted 4-1 to prohibit the sale of recreational marijuana in the city.
