Helen A. Witges, 83, of Scheller, passed away at 10:45 P.M., Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Helen had been a homemaker. She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller. Helen was also a member of St. Theresa Sodality.
She was born June 5, 1936 at Ashley, IL, the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Szopinski) Kujawa.She married Leo T. Witges on July 11, 1956 at Radom, IL and he survives.She is survived by her husband of Scheller, six children – Gerald Witges and wife Rose of Teutopolis, IL, Clarence Witges and wife Bonnie of Scheller, Steven Witges and wife Jackie of Effingham, David Witges of Scheller, Karen Pelker and husband Walt of Scheller, and Kevin Witges and wife Julia of Scheller, five brothers – Albert Kujawa and wife Roseann of Nashville, IL, Ernest Kujawa and wife Rose Marie of Scheller, Alex Kujawa and wife Marsha of Ashley, Charles Kujawa and wife Janet of Ashley, and Francis Kujawa and wife Cindy of Ashley, six sisters – Bernice Kwiatkoski of Mt. Vernon, Hattie Geppert and husband Stanley of Oakdale, IL, Mary Ann Krus and husband John of Nashville, IL, Elsie Flerlage of Mt. Vernon, Maxine Wright and husband Roy of Sesser, and Laverne Schumm and husband David of Wayne City, IL, one sister-in-law – Hilda Witges of Scheller, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister – Francis Gajewski and husband Ted, one brother – Walter Kujawa and wife Sue, and two brothers-in-law – Leo Kwiatkoski and Bernard Flerlage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2019 at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller with Fr. John Iffert officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Sunday at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller.Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 P.M., Sunday at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller.
Burial will be in the St. Barbara Cemetery in Scheller.
Friends may make memorials to the St. Barbara Cemetery, American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
