MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Public Works Department will be performing asphalt milling on multiple stretches of roadway across the city on Wednesday. Approximately two inches of asphalt will be removed in preparation for installing a new layer of asphalt in the near future.
The projects to begin Wednesday include:
1.) Ellis Drive
2.) Pace Ave from 11th to 9th.
3.) Homestead Dr. from Route 37 to Fairway Dr.
4.) S. 20th St. from Broadway to Casey Ave.
5.) N. 42nd St. from Richview to Windsor Pl. Subd.
6.) E. Perkins from Rackaway to RR Tracks
7.) Casey Ave. from 15th to 12th
8.) S. 15th St from Cherry St. to Conger Ave.
The streets being worked on will be closed to thru traffic at various intervals of the project. Public Works officials ask that you use alternate routes when equipment is present and to use extreme caution in this area for safety of the workers and motorists.
For those that live in areas that will be worked on, your driveway access will be available for use expect for a very short time when the “milling machine” is operating in front of your driveway.
