CARMI — District 19 of the Illinois State Police has a new commander in charge. Lieutenant Lance Hinkle began his duties as Interim District Commander on June 1.
Hinkle is a native of Wayne County. He comes back to District 19 after service the past three years out of District 12 Effingham, most recently as the Operations Superintendent. Hinkle served in District 19 from 1997 to 2016.
District 19 serves Wabash, Edwards, Wayne, White, Hamilton, Saline, and Gallatin Counties.
