MCLEANSBORO — The McLeansboro City Council is expected to discuss and take possible action on an intergovernmental agreement between the city and Hamilton County for central dispatch when it meets Tuesday night at 6 at City Hall. The council is expected to go into Executive Session on this issue prior to it being discussed in regular session.

City officials and the Hamilton County Board have been back and forth on the issue over the last couple of months trying to come to some sort of a resolution on the agreement they have.

Most recently, city leaders met with the county board and offered the county a three-year deal for $36,000 per year for central dispatch. That’s up from the $25,000 the city has been paying the last few years to cover central dispatch and first responders. County leaders told city officials the county is not able to replicate the services required for no less than $100,000. There was also some talk of a proposal to enter into a yearly contract with increases for each year of renewal. We tried to verify this information reported by another media outlet recently, but the County Board would not comment.

Among other items on Tuesday’s agenda includes discussion and possible action on the clothing allowance for the McLeansboro Fire Department, appointing Tom Maulding to the Hamilton County Economic Development Commission, the annual financial report and independent auditor’s report for the fiscal year that ended April 30, 2019, an ordinance for the annual appropriations for the city for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2019 and ending April 30, 2020, amending the lease on the McLeansboro Fairgrounds between the city and the Hamilton County Fair Board.

The meeting is open to the public.
