Milton Edward Skelly, 75, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Skelly was born July 2, 1944, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of Milton and Delia Skelly. He spent part of his childhood at military bases in Japan and Iran where his father was stationed. Later, he lived in Brooklyn, New York where he attended Bishop Loughlin High School and Saint Francis College. Milton married Olga (Melnyk) Skelly in Johnson City, New York on July 13, 1982.
In addition to his wife, Milton is survived by his sons, Gregory Skelly and wife,Caroline, Anthony Skelly of Chicago, Illinois, and twin sons, Christopher Skelly and Daniel Skelly, both of Edwardsville, Illinois; grandson, Zai Skelly of Edwardsville, Illinois; and sister and brother-in-law, Madeleine and Fred Myers of Australia.
Dr. Skelly was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Delia Skelly.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Knights of Columbus Chalice Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with The Very Reverend Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Milton’s honor to Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
