WALTONVILLE — Two people were arrested Tuesday morning when the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High-Risk Team served a drug search warrant in Waltonville.

According to the sheriff’s office, the residence occupants, 45-year-old Maranda Sloan and 46-year-old Rhett Sloan were taken into custody during the operation.

The search warrant was a result of an investigation of the Joint Narcotics Division of Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the Joint Narcotics Division searched the residence and obtained evidence to support Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and Drug Equipment charges on both Maranda and Rhett, with bail remaining to be set.

Rhett was further charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearms Ammunition. Both Maranda and Rhett are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
