MT. VERNON — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be receiving a state grant to replace three boilers at the county’s Justice Center. That money will come from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and State Representative Terri Bryant says this is “member initiative” money that is slated to go towards a project in her district.

Bryant says being able to directly help a local government entity is one of the reasons she got into public service.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard previously told WMIX / WDML that this grant money helps free up county money that was set aside for the boiler project to buy his department a new squad car that it needs.
