ILLINOIS (RFD) — If you receive food stamps you might be able to use some of those benefits at a restaurant. Lawmakers approved a bill that will let a selected group of people use their SNAP cards to dine out. The program is focused on the elderly, homeless and disabled; people who otherwise might not be able to cook at home. The program drew support from a disabled lawmaker, Republican Dan McConchie.

Currently, SNAP cards can only be used at grocery stores and farmers markets. The bill needs to be signed by the Governor.
