MARION COUNTY — A 48-year-old Odin man pleaded guilty Thursday in Marion County court to two of nine child sex assault charges against him, while prosecution will continue on the remaining charges.

Delbert Trainor was facing nine Class X counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, with eight of the charges specifying the age of the victim to be under 13.

Trainor pleaded guilty Thursday to counts four and five, which were two of the charges specifying the victim’s age to be under 13.

Attorneys in the case last week had confirmed a June 10 jury trial date in the case. The jury trial date was vacated Thursday on the remaining seven counts against Trainor, and an August 6 pre-trial date was scheduled for those remaining charges.

A pre-sentencing hearing will be held that same day on the two charges to which he pleaded guilty Thursday.

Trainor is accused of sexually assaulting or abusing five children over multiple years dating back at least to early 2016.

He’s been held in the Marion County Jail since his January arrest, with bail set at $500,000.
