MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon Police Officer was honored at Monday’s city council meeting for going above and beyond in the fight against illegal drugs in the community.

Officer Troy Hails received the Distinguished Service Award from Mt. Vernon Assistant Police Chief Robert Brands. Brands goes above and beyond in trying to get drugs off the streets, and serving city residents.

Brands says because of Hails’ hard work, he has been temporarily assigned to the department’s narcotics division for the summer.
