WHITE COUNTY — A Shawneetown man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in White County around 4:20 Thursday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, 31-year-old Matthew D. Rider was driving his 2008 Ford Focus west on Illinois 141 just west of County Road 1600 East when for unknown reasons; he crossed into the eastbound lane striking a 2018 Mack Truck Tractor hauling a tanking trailer driven by 61-year-old David R. Casey of Equality.

Rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Casey refused medical attention.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges were filed.
