MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon’s second leaf burning period of the spring starts Monday.
Leaf burning will be permitted between sunrise and sunset from May 13th until Sunday, May 19th.
No burning is permitted upon any public street, sidewalk, drainage ditch within the public right of way or manhole cover, nor on another person’s property without written permission.
All fires must be physically attended to by someone at least 18-years-old at all times.
Burning of any kind may be prohibited during this period by the Fire Chief’s order due to high winds, dry conditions, or other factors.
