CENTRALIA — Two Centralia men are in the Clinton County Jail after being arrested Thursday by Centralia police on drug conspiracy charges.

According to a Centralia police officer, he received a Facebook message from 32-year-old Christopher Davenport telling him he had Adderall for sale. Police reports indicate it became apparent Davenport did not realize he was messaging a police officer.

It was ultimately decided that the officer should set up a buy with Davenport for approximately 25 of the Adderall at $6 apiece and they would meet at the Dollar Tree in Centralia to make the transaction. Davenport told the officer he would be riding in a red minivan.

The officer drove his personal vehicle to the Dollar Tree while other officers stationed nearby. When the van entered the parking lot the other officers moved in and surrounded the vehicle.

Davenport was a passenger in the back of the van and 18-year-old Drayvon Brown was a front-seat passenger. Officers say they found 26 Adderall in Brown’s possession. The pills and numerous Facebook messages were eventually placed into evidence.

Davenport was questioned at the Centralia Police Department and said he had received Facebook messages that day and the night before from Brown asking if he could get rid of some Adderall. Brown suggested selling to a person who happens to have the same first name as the officer he contacted.

Davenport said he typed the first name into the Facebook search bar and the first profile that popped up was the officer’s.

Brown reportedly told Davenport he would pay him $40 if he could get $150 for the 25 pills. Officers subsequently arrested Brown, who told officers Davenport had threatened him and his girlfriend with a knife if he didn’t sell his pills. However, Davenport had also saved his messages with Brown, and police say the messages clearly did not threaten Brown.

Both men were eventually transported to the Clinton County Jail and charged in Clinton County court Friday with Class X calculated criminal drug conspiracy, Class 3 manufacture with the intent to distribute a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession with intent. Bail was set at $15,000 each.

The two females were released without charges.
