WASHINGTON, D.C. — While bi-partisan agreements have been tougher to find in Washington recently, there may be a key compromise coming on an important issue, infrastructure. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a meeting with President Donald Trump earlier this week, and they say an agreement has been reached to spend $2 trillion on the nation’s infrastructure.
There’s still much work to do to get the agreement into a law and signed in the oval office. Illinois Congressman Mike Bost says any bills need to start with consistent spending and sustained revenue for our infrastructure needs.
Bost says some projects he’d like to see funded in Southern Illinois include a new highway exit in Benton, highway upgrades in Jefferson County, improvements to area locks and dams, as well as water and sewer infrastructure.
