LaVerne Bernard, 90, of Belle Rive “Went Home to be with the Lord” Wednesday morning, May 1, 2019.
She was born in Bonnie, IL on March 5, 1929, the daughter of Evan & Reba (Reece) Adams.
She married Murrel Bernard on February 11, 1950 and he passed away on October 30, 2017.
Mrs. Bernard was a born again Christian, and a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. She helped her husband start the family business, M. Bernard & Sons Grain Co. in 1959. Mrs. Bernard enjoyed going to church with her family, gardening, quilting, sewing and especially her flowers, she had a green thumb and could make anything grow.

Mrs. Bernard was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, by a Daughter-in-law-Brenda Bernard, by a Grandson: Nathan Bernard, by 5 Brothers: Melvin, Nolan, Howard, Eddie & Lindell & by a Sister: Ruth Etta Young.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 5th at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church with Pastors Craig Smith & Brad Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church and from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Sunday.
