FRANKLIN COUNTY — Five people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on I-57 near West Frankfort.

In a press release, Illinois State Police say that a 2019 Ford Expedition rear-ended a 2006 Freightliner 5-axle combination just before 2 p.m. in the right lane of northbound 57.

None of the victims were immediately identified. ALL lanes of Northbound I-57 in Franklin County are open.
