ILLINOIS — The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Jefferson and Franklin County from now through Friday morning.

Heavy rainfall, in some cases 2 to 3 inches has already been measured across portions of the Watch area. Another 1 to locally 3 inches of rain is possible in some areas through tonight.

Heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor drainage areas, and on smaller creeks and streams. Significant rises on larger streams and rivers will also be possible. Expect flooding of roads that are typically affected by excessive rainfall.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
