CARMI — A Carmi woman faces drug charges after being stopped by Carmi Police on Smith Street Monday morning.

Police say 34-year-old Amanda M. Mercer was stopped after an officer viewed her driving and knew she had a suspended driver’s license.

Mercer was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of property and possession of a hypodermic syringe after a quarter gram of meth and the syringe were found in her purse.

Mercer was taken to the White County Jail.

According to court records, Mercer had her first court appearance Monday. She had a bail review Wednesday and a review has been set for July 24 at 8:30 a.m.
