HARRISBURG — Harrisburg’s City Council held a special session Tuesday morning, where the agenda included updates for the city attorney position.

In the meeting, the council amended the Harrisburg Municipal Code.  That change says that the city council can name a city attorney if the attorney nominated by the mayor fails to be named city attorney.  After this change in municipal code, the council named Colby Smithpeters and Robert Wilson as City Attorney, and discharged the previous City Attorney, Todd Bittle.

The motions all passed 3 votes to 2, with Mayor John McPeek and Commissioner Rupert Johnson as the dissenting votes.

During the meeting, the council also set the salaries of the city officers named at the previous meeting.
