MARION COUNTY — A 35-year-old Sandoval man who managed to sneak out of his home during a standoff with Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies has been arrested.
Michael ‘Brent’ Smith was arrested at his home on Sunday and taken to the Marion County Jail where his bail is set at $25,000 on a domestic battery charge.
Deputies were called last week to Smith’s home by a woman who claimed she had been the victim of domestic battery and that Smith had broken out the windows in her van.
She left the home before she called authorities, but Smith was still inside when they arrived. He reportedly refused to come out and had threatened the deputies with a large knife.
While deputies were calling for assistance, Smith reportedly was able to sneak from the home unnoticed.
A tactical response team was called and after failing to make contact with Smith they made entry to the home with a key and discovered Smith had fled, but left behind a large knife.
