MARION – Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick is asking for help from the public in locating the suspect in a series of vehicle thefts that happened early Wednesday morning.

The investigation began at about 4:10 a.m. when Marion Police officers checked a suspicious vehicle near the Williamson County Courthouse.  They located the vehicle and identified the driver as 33-year-old Adam Ray Walker. As there was no evidence of any criminal activity, they cleared from the call.

At about 5:20 a.m., Williamson County deputies were dispatched to a home on Corinth Road. The resident there reported they had received a call from a gas station in Marion saying the gas station had found property belonging to her on their parking lot. When the resident checked, she discovered one of her vehicles had been burglarized and the other vehicle was stolen. She also found a vehicle that had been stolen earlier in Marion parked in her driveway. The vehicle that was stolen from this Corinth Road address was the same vehicle involved in the suspicious vehicle call near the Sheriff’s Office earlier in the morning.

As deputies were at this home investigating this report, Marion Police received a 911 report of a traffic crash and fire on Route 166 at Canaville Road. The caller was a Good Samaritan who had driven up on the crash and stopped to help.  She reported that the driver of the crashed vehicle drove off in her vehicle while she was on the phone with 911 to report the crash.

Deputies and Illinois State Police Troopers responded to this call.

The Illinois State Police handled the traffic crash investigation. They have confirmed that the wrecked vehicle was the vehicle stolen from Corinth Road and used in the suspicious vehicle incident earlier in the morning.

The suspect driver was described as a white male with tattoos, wearing shorts and a tank top and carrying a backpack. This matches the description of Adam Walker, the person identified by Marion Police as the driver of the suspicious vehicle earlier in the morning.

At this time, Sheriff Vick is asking for the help of the public in locating Adam Walker and the vehicle he stole at the crash scene.

Walker is described as a white male, 33 years old, about 6’3” and 250 lbs. At this time Walker is believed to be the suspect in the thefts of multiple vehicles.

The stolen vehicle is a silver 2010 Chevrolet Impala that is missing paint on the front bumper and has a car seat in the back seat. It has Missouri Registration SG6Y4F.

Anyone with information should contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
